70th Anniversary of D-Day First Day Cover

To mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the Isle of Man Post Office was blessed to produce a spectacular new collection of stamps and honouring all the Manx men and women involved in the historic landings.

Many from the Isle of Man were involved in D-Day and the subsequent press into Europe, including Hector Duff, whose individual encounters inspired this collection, A Manxman's Journey. Hector landed on the beaches of Normandy on the Sixth June 1944 and went through to Berlin during that year.

The collection of 6 stamps, available in Mint condition or Cancelled to Order (CTO), features photos from the liberation of Europe which started with the infamous beach landings. Each stamp is likewise available in a 15-stamp sheet, in Mint or CTO.

The stamps are likewise featured on a stunninfg First Day Cover, postmarked with the initial day of issue and accompanied by a highlighted card telling part of Hector's incredible story. Also available is a highly-collectable Presentaion Pack, which includes a complete set of the stamps, in Mint condition, plus more pictures, from both The Press Association and Hector's very own collection, and Hector's story, told by military historian Colonel Charles Wilson, of the Isle of Man Cadet Force.

To mark the D-Day 70th anniversary, we also have a unique celebratory sheet which includes the best images from previous D-Day stamps, highlighting the stories of the land, sea and air projects which liberated Europe and its significant players, such as Churchill, Eisenhower and Montgomery.

For real enthusiast, the limited folder is an essential. It showcases Hector's complete tale, a fantastic variety of images, the crown and commemorative sheet plus a very unique First Day Cover signed by Hector and Sir Richard Dannatt, former Chief of the Defence Staff. Only 500 folders are available.
