Wednesday, 7 September 2016 | Gareth
The collection commemorating the life and also works of the motivational writer and illustrator, Beatrix Potter, proceeds with the 4th coin in the collection, featuring Mrs Tiggy-Winkle. The diligent hedgehog is seen in her washerwoman’s dress and petticoats on this 50p coin – the first official United Kingdom coin to feature Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.
Series artist as well as Royal Mint engraver, Emma Noble has made certain that Beatrix’s personalities are at the centre of each coin, attaining a fragile equilibrium between character and engraving, their famous names clear for all to see. Presented in fold-out packaging motivated by Beatrix’s own stunning images, the coin will take its area along with the remainder of the collection.
This 4th coin in the collection has been struck in sterling silver, finished to our finest Proof specification. Royal Mint engraver Emma Noble has brought Mrs Tiggy-Winkle to life, with aspects of her style highlighted by colour printing, showing Beatrix’s own watercolour illustrations. The coin is provided wonderfully in a contemporary Perspex box for easy display.
