Team GB Rio 2016 Olympic StampsSunday, 4 September 2016 | Gareth
Manx atheletes from a variety of sports have made massive contributions to Team GB over the years, from Manx-born rower Sidney Swann, who was the first rival from the Isle of Male to win an Olympic medal in 1912 to Team Sky pro cyclist Peter Kennaugh MBE, who advanced a century later as part of the track cycling team which smashed the Olympic and also world records in the final. Looking ahead to Rio 2016, biking is again most likely to see a number of Isle of Man competitors standing for Team GB with Mark Cavendish, Peter Kennaugh and also Team Sky motorcyclist Ben Swift (Swift relocated residence from Yorkshire to the Isle of Man in 2010). One Manxman currently picked for Rio is record breaking shooter and dual Commonwealth Gamings medalist Tim Kneale, who will be competing his first Olympics.
