The Queen’s Beasts – Lion of England

Her Majesty The Queen is now the world’s longest reigning living monarch, and as she continues to reach new milestones in her remarkable reign, we look back to the day of her coronation when the beasts of heraldry stood guard over the new queen. The 10 creatures that lined Her Majesty’s entry to Westminster Abbey symbolised centuries of origins and tradition. Now, Royal Mint coin designer Jody Clark has actually breathed new life into The Queen’s Beasts for this new collection.
The first release features the Lion of England, standing ‘rampant’ and intense on the reverse of the coin. The obverse of the coin features the present coinage effigy of The Queen, which was likewise developed by Jody. The coin is also struck in 5 ounces of 999 fine silver, is completed to Proof standard and is accompanied by a pamphlet produced in association with Clive Cheesman, Richmond Herald at the College of Arms.
