The quintessentially British spy – Bond, James Bond – has evolved over six actors, 25 films, endless gadgets and now, a coin collection. As the 25th film is set to be released, The Royal Mint is celebrating with a new, three-coin series exploring the technology, luxurious lifestyle and iconic imagery from the movies.
The collection began with coins featuring the Aston Martin DB5, the classic Bond car. Now, the series continues with a new coin exploring the technology that has characterised the films, from exploding pens to ejector seats. Featuring ‘Wet Nellie’, the submarine car that appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me, the latest coin is a great way to continue the collection, or it stands alone as a unique Bond collectable.
Created by graphic design partnership Christian Davies and Matt Dent, the reverse design includes telltale bubbles, giving a sense that the car is underwater. This is the second coin in the series, with only one more to follow.
