Island Stamps and Coins is delighted to reveal the launch of a new set of four coins from Pobjoy Mint which commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the establishment of the Russian Romanov Dynasty.

The House of Romanov was the last Empire to rule over the Russian Empire. Set up in 1613, it continued until the overthrow of the last Tzar, Nicholas the Second, in 1917. Between, the celebrated empire included a few of the most remarkable and important rulers in world history.

To commemorate the anniversary, four coins are being released each revealing a portrait of a different participant of the Romanov Dynasty with a structure connected with that specific leader. Underneath the create is a Russian Eagle which includes the worth and the days for every participant of the Romanov Dynasty.

Peter the Great-- ruled the Tsardom of Russia and later on the Russian Empire from 1682 until 1725. In numerous successful battles he expanded the Tsardom in to a significant empire that came to be a major European pressure. The layout reveals a picture of Peter the Great in addition to the Peter & Paul Sanctuary which is located in St. Petersburg and which was constructed throughout his power.

Catherine the Great-- was the most renowned and longest-ruling female leader of Russia reigning from 1762 up until 1796. Russian was revitalised under her regime, enlarging and stronger than ever. The coin carries a portrait of Catherine the Great together with Catherine Palace which was created for her as a Summer Palace.

Alexander I-- worked as Emperor of Russian from 1801 to 1825 and the first Russian King of Poland from 1815 to 1825 and ruled Russia throughout the duration of the Napoleonic Battles. The layout reveals a portrait of Alexander the First with an image of a Marquee on a raft at Tilsit where the Treaty of Tilsit was signed by Alexander and Napoleon.

Nicholas II-- was the last Emperor of Russia. He ruled from 1894 until his abdication in 1917. His regime visited Imperial Russia go from being among the primary great powers of the globe to financial and military failure. The image on the coin reveals a picture of Nicholas whose Coronation took place within the Kremlin. The structure on this coin is St Basil's Basilica which belongs to the Kremlin World Heritage site and is probably the most well-known structure of the site.

Offered in Cupro Nickel and Proof Sterling Silver, each silver coin has been very carefully struck four times and functions frosted high relief image against a mirror brilliant background.
